Mic check

This is apparently a thing that we’re going to do here.

I very much enjoy writing, and I also very much enjoy arguing about things. Politics, certainly, also culture, and sometimes about how sweet potato fries are just horrible. Really, really awful.

I’m planning to touch on a few different topics that have been percolating recently:

• Harry Potter is a terrible person and the Harry Potter books also are terrible.
• The federal student loan program is making it more expensive for people to go to college.
• The Friedrichs v. California Teachers Assoc. case, and why the best solution to the so-called “free-rider” problem is amending (or, better yet, abolishing) the NLRA.
• Jury nullification; let’s get more of that.
• Gun rights and, more specifically, why most gun control proposals are either foolish in light of their stated goals or advanced disingenuously.
• The Interstate Highway System is the worst federal government action of the 20th century.
• If you use the word “impactful,” you should be beaten about the head and neck with heavy sticks or possibly thick, wet ropes. The kind they use to tie ships up.
• I hate San Francisco.
• Nic Cage is the greatest living actor.
• Open borders are the best kind of borders.
• Being vegan is better than whatever you’re doing for dinner.

I like to argue a lot in person and on Facebook. I am somewhat nervous that the blogging format will be a difficult transition for me, as I won’t be immediately presented with facile counter-arguments to which I can quickly and wittily respond. Instead, I will be forced to imagine what asinine justifications people have for being wrong, and then attempt to correct them before they have the chance.
